From Learner to Llama: My Journey With Our Learning Content Management System

Before becoming a member of the Lessonly team, I worked for a software company that used Lessonly as their official learning management system. Being new to the Indy area, it was the first time I had ever heard of the company, but I have to tell you, it didn’t take long for me to notice from leaders, my peers, and myself as a learner, that it was truly something special. For the next two years, I used Lessonly as a learner before I would unknowingly become a member of the Lessonly team and get the opportunity to train others on how to use the same tool that has given me the best onboarding and continued e-learning experience in my career to date.

Prior to that position, I had jumped around from job to job post-college, where I regrettably experienced lackluster, informal, onboarding processes and nonexistent continued learning. Looking back, it’s troublesome to think about how my teammates and I learned and retained the information needed to do our jobs successfully. And for many companies today, this is still the case. When it comes to managing your LCMS, you’ll want something that is flexible but at its core, simple. Think about what training is comprised of like content, people, and reporting. Content should be easy to find, filter, and share with others for easy collaboration and Q&A. Users inside the system should be easy to add, organized by groups, hierarchies, and easily synced with native integrations. Reporting should allow for both granular and holistic views so admins have specific and broad understandings of overall employee engagement and satisfaction. And at a high level, ensure the system allows for various levels of permissions—giving teams the flexibility to customize roles, creating personalized and unique experiences for everyone, depending on their responsibilities.

The best of both worlds

Look for a learning content management system that prides itself on innovation, efficiency and simplicity. One that will consolidate your tech stack a bit and make your work feel more streamlined and focused.
